About Us

WE USE THE HEALING POWER OF SHARED MUSIC TO BRING TOGETHER VETERANS AND OTHERS TO HELP IMPROVE THEIR MENTAL HEATLH AND WELL BEING.

Veterans Community Choirs (UK) CIC (VCC) was incorporated on 21st August 2020 as a Community Interest Company to assume and take on the activities previously carried out by Veterans Voices (VV), the Veterans arm of EPRA (UK) and of the work of its ‘creators’/co-founders Nicky Winter (Winter) and Billy Steel (Steel).  The name has been changed from VV because there are a number of organisations using the same or similar names to VV and because Veterans Community Choirs (UK) CIC more accurately describes the main activities of the company. It is but the latest component of an ongoing project and story.

In the second half of 2018 the VV fledgling choir performed in some 14 events/gigs including at the Tree Planting ceremony at the headquarters of the Royal British Legion (RBL) and at the Christmas lunch at the Sir Oswald Stoll Foundation’s (Stoll) premises in Fulham which was featured on BBC TV London news Bulletins.

In 2019 weekly singalong sessions/choir practices were held for Stoll residents which proved very popular and beneficial.  The choir which resulted sang on Armed Forces Day at a concert in Wimbledon with the Central band of the RBL and the Wimbledon Community Chorus.  In December it took a leading part in a Christmas Celebration in the Methodist Church in Fulham.

Over the 18 month period it is estimated that some 50 Veterans and members of their families have been helped and their lives improved.  At least a further 50 or more will have been helped indirectly.
